Working Towards Net Zero Buildings and Facilities
This is a difficult long-term challenge. We are working with our local authority partner London Borough of Hounslow to help us move forward to reduce the carbon footprint of the centres and to make net zero a reality. This is a long-term strategy necessitating the requirement for more efficient buildings as well as the procurement of new, efficient plant and equipment.
Some of the steps we have taken and are planning to achieve include the following:
- Engaging with London Borough of Hounslow to seek funding through the Government’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) and implementation of specific projects.
- Optimisation of building plant and equipment through smart building technology projects.
- Ensuring centres are powered by 100% REGO (Renewable Energy Guarantee of Origin) backed energy tariff.
- Engagement with managers and staff through additional training in carbon literacy.
OUR EMPLOYEES’ RESPONSIBILITIES TO SUPPORT THIS POLICY ARE
- Carry out tasks in an environmental and energy efficient way to reduce operational waste and costs.
- Participate in prescribed training to ensure awareness of company environmental policy and delivery of company objectives and energy targets.
- Report any situations, suggestions or customer feedback to improve day to day environmental and energy management performance within our centres.
